Mike is a co-founder of Wyoming Combatives and has been influenced from the years of exposure to Sifu Richard Hager and has received a 2nd degree Black Belt from him. Before training with Sifu Hager. Mike started learning USTF  Tae Kwon Do, and Shorin Ryu Karate. Later after talking with a friend went to the late Terry Gibson of  Tulsa, OK for private instruction briefly around 1995. Elements were Muay Thai, JKDC, Kali, Silat. When moving back to Rock Springs WY in 1996 is when he started training under Sifu Hager. The exposure through Sifu Richard Hager allows exposure to similar methodologies which include but not limited to Muay Thai, JKDC, Walt Bayless Combat Jujitsu, Kali, Wun Hop Kuen Do. Mike has worked personally with Sigung Ben Fajardo also in elements of Kali, Wun Hop Kuen Do and JKD concepts. Mike also was as a folk style wrestler growing up. MMA/ Muay Thai class works on the fundamental bases of combatives primarily from the influences of JKDC, Muay Thai, Kali, Silat, Sambo, Combat JuJitsu.

Thai Boxing instruction comes from past instructor above as well as experience with Khuen Khru Will Bernales from the Bernales Institute of Martial Arts. With whom he currently is focusing on his Thai Boxing under the direct guidance of.
